Status of pop'd messages

Hi,

I'm running qmail on my system (no really ;o) ). I access  my mails             
through a shell (with Mutt) and through POP (with Eudora). My problem is        
that when I POP my messages, the ones I have already read with Mutt             
comes in as NEW. I kept the default mailbox format of qmail, ie.                
Maildir/.

As anyone encountered this before? Any suggestions on how this could be         
fix?
