now my question is, I have the clients old list ( collected from a plain
text file ) which is about 20K in address, normally i would as user who
controls list do:
xargs < textfile ezmlm-sub ~/newsletter
and they would all get imported no problemo
since all the domains are created vpopmail from qmailadmin, would i do this
as vpopmail or can i just do it as root or whatever and just specify the
full path to the newsletter dir. ie:
xargs < /path/to/textfile ezmlm-sub /path/to/newsletter
Wow, I've been adding as root, but that's not a good plan. If you do, users
won't be able to unsubscribe, and qmailadmin will have trouble managing the
subscriber list.
Best to do it as user vpopmail.
Also, an easier way to subscribe the users is:
ezmlm-sub /path/to/newsletter < /path/to/textfile
this tends not to work well on larger lists ( i'm not sure the threshold
number) but you get some kinda too many instances or something like that..
the xargs is the only solutions i've found for larger lists and it has just
become habbit for any list i add.
so root gives issues eh..ok well that explains it. i'll redo as vpopmail.
Cheers,
Gary
