Ok,

I agree with you, Martin, reviews the error that shows in CentOS 4.1.
Something with this line
/bin/sh ./config.sub i686-redhat-linux-gnu failed...

It does not recognize the system apparently,

ick, the test you have done it in mandrake and executes the compilation and
the installation well......???????

I'm currently working to resolve this issue from
vqadmin-toaster-2.3.6-1.2.8.src.rpm:

IMHO autoconf has generated "very nice" config line

./configure --host=i686-redhat-linux-gnu --build=i686-redhat-linux-gnu \
        --target=i386-redhat-linux \
        --program-prefix= \
        --prefix=/usr \
        --exec-prefix=/usr \
        --bindir=/usr/bin \
        --sbindir=/usr/sbin \
        --sysconfdir=/etc \

        /////////// snip //////////

checking for a BSD-compatible install... /usr/bin/install -c checking
whether build environment is sane... yes checking for gawk... gawk checking
whether make sets $(MAKE)... yes checking build system type... Invalid
configuration `i686-redhat-linux-gnu': machine `i686-redhat-linux' not
recognized
configure: error: /bin/sh ./config.sub i686-redhat-linux-gnu failed

now config.sub is confused with this options.

any tips?

packages:
autoconf-2.59-5
automake-1.9.2-3
make-3.80-5

distro:
CentOS release 4.1 (Final)

Thanks and best regards,
