I have looked at the beta. I have tested it briefly and do not believe it is quite ready. It's flakier than our 1.1. When I have time I will fill out a few bug reports and see if I can help them get it closer to a release.
My recommendation is to stick with 1.1 for the time being. If there is enough interest in this I can put out the package i made for myself while testing on my unofficial site.
