I got this error in outlook, and couldn't figure out why. i could send
emails from squirrelmail, but couldn't send emails from outlook. could
receive, but not send. i checked "my outgoing smtp server requires
authentication", and now she can send emails. thought i would pass that
along, probably just a quirk that it's not already checked by default....

This is the error you will receive if you do not have either a local dns
server or a caching nameserver. If you are getting this error and do not
want to use bind, here is the easiest local caching dns package in the
world:
