Sorry about lacking info. Meant to include it.

 

This is a fresh install of CentOS 4.3, and I'm using the "CentOS 4.3 & qmailtoaster the easy way - Mail Server Only" installation guide. I'm using the GUI installation (the machine boots into run level 3, but I do a startx just to finish the installation). The system freezes on "sh cnt40-install-script.sh". The following is installed:

 

zlib

daemontools-toaster

ucspi-tcp-toaster

vpopmail-toaster

libdomainkeys-toaster

qmail-toaster

 

But, courier-authlib-toaster is next, and this is where it fails. It fails at different places within this script, though. The first time it froze, it was at a line stating it was check to see if a Fortran compliler was being used, the second time I do recall a line that had "g77", and the third time (remotely through ssh with system in run level 3) as shown below.

 

checking if g++ PIC flag -fPIC works... yes
checking if g++ supports -c -o file.o... yes
checking whether the g++ linker (/usr/bin/ld) supports shared libraries... yes
checking dynamic linker characteristics... GNU/Linux ld.so
checking how to hardcode library paths into programs... immediate
checking whether stripping libraries is possible... yes

(froze)

We could use a bit more information in order to help.
.) which distro?
.) fresh distro installation?
.) gui (X) installed? (more of a curiosity)
.) which instructions are you following?
.) which install script are you running?
.) what toaster packages are installed up to this point?
.) at what point in the process does it freeze? (what's the last thing you see?)
