Are you sure there is no problem with your harddisk or your memory, I had a similar issue and the real culprit was in one case the hard disk that was damaged and the second case was that the RAM was damaged (in the 2nd case the server would freeze too)

Edit /var/qmail/control/simcontrol and disable spam checking and virus checking. Then run simscanmk and that should do the trick.

You can also do a svc -d /var/qmail/supervise/clamd / spamd too if you want to actually shut down the daemons.



Our server has no such filename as /var/qmail/control/simcontrol

Using svc -d to stop clamd and spamd is now causing this message to
appear when getting messages from hosts outside of itself:

451 mail server temporarily rejected message (#4.3.0)

Local deliveries are OK.

Please advise.
