I took a serious look at deepOfix too. I didn't notice that it installed all that quick, but I don't think that's very important.
I was mostly interested to see what components it was using. I was pleased to see qmail (with not as many patches as I would have liked) under the hood. I also noticed that they appear to have replaced courier-imap with dovecot not too long ago (something I'd like to see with the toaster). I was eager to see how RBLs are implemented. DeepOfix apparently used to have an RBL file, but this processing is now handled by spamassassin. I don't know for sure, but I expect that emails would need to be received and scanned before being rejected by spamassassin due to an RBL. Since a large majority of spam is rejected by RBLs, this would effect performance of the server fairly drastically, and in a bad way. This factor alone is enough to make me decide to stay with my toaster, at least for the time being. I don't think that my puny PII/266 could keep up with the deepOfix configuration (my present load averages are <0.2 with the toaster). DeepOfix does not appear to use the bayesian database with spamassassin either, which is another drawback. I do like the ability to change configuration settings with a web interface though (who doesn't?). While I think that the deepOfix screens are nice, there's also some room for improvement. There is a lot of functionality there, and it'd be good to use it for ideas when designing a web interface for the toaster. That's my .02.
