I'm trying to enable URIDNSBL, and it's not kicking in because SA isn't
finding DNS that's working.

Caching-nameserver is installed and working quite nicely (otherwise).

I even tried adding
dns_available yes
to local.cf, but still get unavailable when I run lint:

# sudo -u vpopmail -H spamassassin -D --lint
...
[11128] dbg: dns: is Net::DNS::Resolver available? yes
[11128] dbg: dns: Net::DNS version: 0.63
...
[11128] dbg: plugin: Mail::SpamAssassin::Plugin::URIDNSBL=HASH(0x9b35420)
implements 'parsed_metadata', priority 0
[11128] dbg: dns: is DNS available? 0
[11128] dbg: rules: local tests only, ignoring RBL eval
...

Any ideas

did you remove the '-L' from the run line, which forces only local
checks....bump....per the first line action item of the wiki?

Good thing to check, fuzzy, but no go:
# cat /var/qmail/supervise/spamd/run
#!/bin/sh
exec /usr/bin/spamd -x -u vpopmail -s stderr 2>&1

That wouldn't be it anyway, as it doesn't come into play with running lint,
only the daemon.

Thanks though. I thought you might have had it at first. ;)
ok

isn't 0=true then

[11128] dbg: dns: is DNS available?
should be interpreted as dns is available?

i have surbl on my box working perfectly, and so i tried a manual lint and i get the same thing.

[16475] dbg: dns: is DNS available? 0
[16475] dbg: rules: local tests only, ignoring RBL eval

so i think it will work, just that the 'lint process' doesn't call external stuff??

done
