I had some gut instinct that there was an underlying problem.
So I installed a root kit checker, damm well found 4 different root kits.
I have also read that the best way to remove is Reformat, Reinstall, make
sure fire wall is set correctly.
Does ClamAV not find rootkits ?
Running the backup script as we speak.

Clamav installed on QMT only scans emails, not the system.
I honestly do not know if it would show rootkits or not. Don't get them
here.
rootkits usually get into the system by weak passwords or
vulnerabilities in code that has a public facing side (read the archives
on the Roundcube exploit).
Once a user gets an account (even a user account, FTP account, etc.)
they can then get code into the system. It's then a matter of time
before they get a rootkit in or brute force the root password.
