Some of our clients are saying they are getting tons more spam than usual.
I have them send me the IP`s from the email headers,

1.Can I block spammers using IP address
2. Do I need to install sopamdyke to accomplish this

Thanks

You can use iptables if you like, but spamdyke can do this as well, in addition to so many other things.

Do you have a reason for not using spamdyke? It's trivial to install, using the qtp-install-spamdyke script.

I strongly recommend using spamdyke. It's really "the bomb".
