To All,
For some time I have not been running Clamd or Spamd as part of my
simscan. This was because of an unrelated issue, now resolved.
Recently I have returned these checking of messages using Clamd and Spamd,
see below.
/var/qmail/control/simcontrol
:clam=yes,spam=yes,spam_hits=12,attach=.mp3:.src:.bat:.pif
Since doing this our server is picking up more spam and virus related
messages, so everything is working.
My problem is, now the Sync of IMAP accounts fails quite regularly. We only
have about 20 IMAP accounts along with another 180 or POP accounts.
POP users are not seeing issues, just the Sync on IMAP.
Is there a way to see what is causing the issues? Or is there a way to
"tweak" IMAP to improve the service? The majority of my Toaster (CentOS 5)
install is as per Jake's Instructions.
Cheers

I'm not getting a clear picture of what "the Sync of IMAP accounts fails
quite regularly" entails. Which client program(s)? What is the client
configuration (port, SSL/TLS)? What is the client error message, if any?
What does the imap log(s) show?
That being said, courier should work fine with relatively small IMAP
accounts. Do these accounts have any folders with a lot (thousands) of
messages? Are the sessions timing out?
I normally don't like suggesting switching to something different when
something doesn't work, but you should know that future versions of QMT
will be using Dovecot instead of Courier. Many QMT users are already
using Dovecot with great success. Dovecot performs significantly better
with large IMAP accounts, and is very robust (it fixes things
automatically that it find out of whack). You might want to consider
giving Dovecot a try. I believe that there is a wiki how-to page for
Dovecot that was added recently, and there are fairly recent posts about
it in the list archives. I expect that your time would be better spent
installing Dovecot than trying to fix what might be wrong with Courier.
It's up to you though.
