Generally, yes. Spamdyke will filter 80+% of messages up front, before
they're even transmitted, so your host will not need to scan them at
all, which is typically the most resource intensive part of the process.
What sort of slowness are you experiencing? You haven't given us much to
go on here. If you describe what you're seeing, we might be able to
better assist.
I highly recommend using spamdyke in any case.
