Needless to say, regular mail goes fine via the smarthost.

I don't know about ezmlm, but it appears that it uses the stock
delivery mechanism. What's in your /var/qmail/control/smtproutes file?
My smtproutes file has my smarthost information in the form -
:example.com username password (of course with my correct domain and
user information). Like I said earlier, it's only ezmlm that's giving me
a problem. I will try without the smarthost, and see if there's a
difference.

After more careful examination, it appears that the smarthost you're
using doesn't like the sender address that ezmlm uses. "mailformed
address" is in the failure message. What exactly it doesn't like is hard
to say since you've obscured the message. I'm guessing that the
smarthost isn't able to handle ezmlm lists (or perhaps any email lists).
I would look to the smarthost for a solution. What software is the
smarthost running?
