SpamDyke will stop most of the rogue SMTP connections, since most are likely spam.
The question I have is, is Comcast only allowing 1000 SMTP connections a day, or is it 1000 at a time, or? If it's 1000 at a time (Simultaneous), then there's a number of ways to stop that, SpamDyke being the easiest, fastest and most beneficial, in my opinion... If it's 1000 a day, then you're kind of screwed, since the connections will be made, perhaps immediately dropped, but still made. You might also consider outsourcing your e-mail server's MX services to a filtering service of some kind. That would put the initial handling of the e-mail (Filtering, etc) off of your server, and then only deliver the "Good" mail to your server. Depending on the amount of mail, this could be a solution regardless of how many connections Comcast allows. You could move SMTP to different ports to bypass their limits, etc. It would also provide some level of "Failover", should either your server or the Comcast connection drop, by queuing the mail up for delivery when your services return...
