That makes things much simpler. If that's the case, there's reason that I know of for them to use Outlook. The more recent stock Windows Mail program with Vista (and I expect Win7) works much nicer with IMAP.

I will configure the users with IMAP if it suits the needs, but being remote
may cause issues.

I used to have reservations about using IMAP remotely, but I've seen IMAP clients (even Outlook) work nicely on remote connections. Just so long as it's not dial-up remote. ;) The IMAP protocol is very workable with remote clients. It helps if the IMAP server is efficient as well. You should definitely consider using Dovecot on QMT if your IMAP usage is extensive.
