if i change over to dovecot will all the emails start downloading once
again in outlook / outlook express ?

I don't know for sure off hand. You might search the dovecot list for an answer, or ask this question there.

As someone pointed out, it's the client which keeps track of which messages have been downloaded. So long as the message identifying mechanism doesn't change, I would expect that there'd be no duplication.

i am facing quite a bit of email delivery issues to the local email ids
which should normally be the fastest.

my client sends a lot of internal emails using mailing lists.

qmail randomly delays sending of email to local recepients.

Are you suffering from this?:

It doesn't appear that QMT is patched for this. Perhaps we should get this included in QMT?

even using qmhandle -a works but not effective enough

mails collect in pre-processes and keep increasing.

[root@ns1 ~]# perl qmhandlenew.pl -s
Total messages: 2710
Messages with local recipients: 1809
Messages with remote recipients: 5
Messages with bounces: 4
Messages in preprocess: 898

i have repaired the queue, no errors or any issues.

simply cant figure out the reason for the issue

server is constantly under load of over 12 and goes as high as over 100

Wow. That's WAY too high.
