We like qmail, for the same reasons. I just wonder why you'd choose to
go it alone instead of joining with the strong QMT community.
QMT has other benefits you may not have considered, such as spamdyke (a
terrific spam blocker that will lighten the load on your server) and
dovecot (leading imap/pop3 software). QMT will also provide server-side
filtering in the near future (I expect this year), which becomes
important with more mobile clients.
It just doesn't make sense to me that you'd want to build a new
ALT/qmail server instead of a QMT host. You might at least give QMT a
try. I think the probability of success (with less effort as well) is
much higher with QMT.
You pick your poison though. ;)
P.S. Your English is no problem. I guarantee it's far better than my
Russian! :)

You know what I like qmail?
Usually a big problem with compiling, but after this, and no support is needed.
Why?
My old server has worked for more than five years in 365/7/24 mode when the
number of users more than 300.
Tired of the motherboard, bad health HDD ... I put myself a new qmail and I
will rejoice in another ten years.
And Pardon me for my terrible English)) I'am Russian ))

I'm afraid that the implementation you've chosen will leave you with
very little support.
I would recommend converting your mail server to use QMT on COS6 (not
surprizingly). Your existing mail server would probably migrate easily
with the qtp-backup and qtp-restore scripts, depending on your vpopmail
configuration. Plus, you'd not need to compile a thing. You could have a
new server up and running with everything done in a day if you're lucky.
Of course, YMMV.
