I've checked in some fairly minor changes that should allow it to be used in
a much more general fashion. I'll be testing that soon, and will correct
any missing features. I've confirmed that it still works as well as before
for integer values, and also fixed a bug where invalid (out of range)
NumericFormat values could be left incorrect in the text field even though
the correct max or min value was saved to the 'value' property.
