i tried qxtransformer some time ago. it's quite buggy, it did not look 
like a finished product. it's implemented using xsl/xslt, so its "code" 
looks horrendous. it'd be fine if it just worked but as it is now i 
wouldn't get near it.

pythoncard, the gui for qxt looks a bit amateurish as well.

what i'd do, instead of defining new xml tags, would be to adapt to an 
existing gui toolkit's file format, like qtdesigner's .ui or flex 
builder's .mxml.

i'd prefer qtdesigner (it outputs an xml file) as it is a mature free 
and open source tool. i also think it's consistent enough with qooxdoo, 
so it looks doable to me. should a consensus be reached on this matter, 
i'd be willing to spare some time for it as well.
