I didn't know that ... but I'm on Mac now :-) I realize it could be a good idea to rate roughly Python on various platform. For example, on Windows, you advice to use ActivePython and advise not to use Cygwin's implementation. What about Linux (different flavor ?) and Mac ?
I ask that because I found that improving build speed by just changing Python installation would worth the change.
