A long time ago (in the days of Qx 0.6.x) I wrote the "WindowManagerEx"
contribution which included a lot of the generally desired "extra" window
functionality.

None of that code made it into the 0.8 framework, however, so when I needed
to port my legacy Qx app to 0.8.x, I set about reimplementing most of it.
0.8.x is certainly a much richer platform, but I must admit I was just a
little disappointed to find that the design of the window package was still
very limited. I wrote a few notes about this here recently in another
thread called "Difficulty extending WindowManager 0.8.3+".

That aside, I have now built an alternative implementation of the window
package (re-structuring some of the existing code) in order to make it more
extensible and MVC-centric. My implementation includes a Dock and a
Desktop, and makes it much easier to add additional alternate views, such as
a Virtual Desktop, Zoomed-Mini-Map and so on.

If anyone is interested, it would be useful for me to have it reviewed by
the Qx gurus, and I suspect it may be a useful head-start for others who
want some of that "extra" window functionality.
