You have a point, but what makes it less reasonable for an application 2010 are
the following items:
1. First of all, we deliver to customers now. We are not waiting til 2011-2012
or even later. Time is money.
2. Future doesn't even tell if qooxdoo will exist.
3. Even though much of the optimization can be done by the browser, not all can
and will be done. You do not even know what and how much!
4. The optimizations done now will not break future code in any way, probably
only make it even better, as long as there are no side effects of the change of
the browsers.
5. How you are going to get the big elephants (web browser companies) to dance
in sync I don't know....maybe you have a recipe on that? So far it has not
worked.
or even more difficult...
6. How you are going to get the end users to choose same colours on the socks,
the browser, you want them to choose....maybe you have a recipe on that too?
You have not convinced us. What the speakers say I agree, but it is a different
context than we and qooxdoo are living in. So we will have to stick with our
strategy. :-)
You don't sell by waiting. And never forget that the end user's subjective
experience of your application decides if it will be a success or not! He is
going to look at it now.....not 2011 or 2012 or 2013...
