Just make a member function and just refer to it. E.g.

this._yourMemberFunction

thanks for your example code, it really helped, but I had problems accessing 
_onDblClickItem. I had to put the listener function into a variable like

var listener = function(e) {...};

Is there a way to access methods from the class where the tree was created?
It is a static class.
