Hi Robert, >> I do not agree with the idea of having samples under src/examples. >> Samples (with their READMEs) are an important part of learning the >> product for a new user and should be easily visible for them to be >> useful.
>Exactly, we intended that a separate examples.tar.gz/zip get produced as part of the distribution. First I think we agree that the way we package the examples now needs to be cleaned up, correct me if I am wrong. I am also saying that the sample source should be found somewhere like in $QPID_HOME/samples for an installation, and not as a tar.gz/zip file. Apache projects such as ActiveMQ, CXF do the same thing, and I think this will be very useful to the users. Having the demo as source files helps the user to go through the code, try some changes, compile, and see what happens. >> Having them deep under src/examples is definitely not going to >> help them, while having the samples, along-with their associated >> READMEs, under the distribution will be clearly visible to them. > I don't follow you. Are you referring to people checking out svn? No this is again for people not using the svn. Suresh
