Hi Nuno, Thanks for providing the patch. This is quite helpful as I couldn't test it on all platforms. You have mentioned in the JIRA that the "osgi.ws may need to be changed to "motif", depending on the system". So I have applied the other part of the patch and created different scripts for gtk and motif. We can similarly create scripts for other windowing system too without changing the config.ini. I think it is better from a user point of view to have different script for different windowing system instead of changing the config.

I think a good starting point would be the parameters that Bhupendra included in the eclipse monitoring plug-in (which provides very extensive monitoring and runtime configuration capabilities), the question being whether all of them are needed at the protocol level or, on the other hand, if additional parameters should be added.
