Qpopper initialization error

The following error occurs when I try and load qpopper:

Unable to obtain socket and address of client: Socket operation on non-socket

It occurred just after I installed qpopper 2.53  for the first time. Anyone 
know of a solution? Maybe this is common, I don't know. I couldn't find any 
archives for this list, so I apologize if this has been answered before.
