This is normal.

A wishlist item of something to exit and cleanup qpopper if there's no
route to host or the end socket goes away or the data stream stalls for
more than 2-3 minutes wouldn't hurt, but it's not in Qpopper right now.

This is mainly an artifact of qpopper and the ancestral berkeley popper
being designed for LAN clients, not dialups (on dynmaic IPs).
