The problem you are describing is an old one. Google for it and you will
discover that many people have had this same problem. After spending two
months and getting no where, I finally dumped it in favor of 'Dovecot'.
I just could not afford to lose any more mail. My users were going to
string me up. In any case, we went to all virtual users, so that worked
out well.
If you cannot find a solution to this problem, you might want to
consider 'Dovecot'.
