Hi Chris,
My plugin was not heavily tested... it does work great for me and in fact
i'm quite amazed with the results. But I think that lack of testing on
additional systems would be the main reason for it not making it to the CVS
version. Further, besides yourself, nobody else here commented on my version
of the plugin (you'r the first), I simply assumed that either the previous
versions are too broken to be used by anyone, or they work for everybody
else besides myself :-)
And even assuming the plugin works better than the others, I don't know if I
can or should simply access CVS myself and make changes (is it that open?),
or simply ask a maintainer. I personally would like to see this plugin
improved some more, and your suggested improvement is a great start! I'm
willing to help you with coding and testing of the improved version, and i'm
sure if we both test it for a few days it will be save to make an official
release of a really good version of the spamassassin plugin.
I have hundreds of customers on my mail system. The slightest problem, and
my support box gets bombarded with support emails or complaints. So far, I
have 0 emails in there! (honest). Once we test this a bit on an alternative
mail server I have, we'll move it to the main one, and see the 'effects' ;-)
Keep in touch,
Aric
