Hi Skaag, Yes, your version works fine for me with only a small modification: You hardcoded /usr/bin/spamc when on my FreeBSD 5.1 system, it's in /usr/local/bin/spamc - Easy fix tho, and I'm sure we can figure a way to make it more generic.
For others wanting to check his SpamAssassin plugin out, go to http://gw.nsa.co.il/qpsmtpd/spamassassin I'm still in the testing mode, but I have a dedicated mail server for spam scrubbing, and my personal email gets 400 spams a day (I have some very old email addresses), so I think I'm a great test bed. I'm quite interested in working with you, as I think this would be a major benefit for many people. I'm sure we can pass the improved version along to Ask Bjoern Hansen for inclusion in the CVS version if he finds it worthy. I've also generated some improved documentation for installing qpsmtpd and spamassassin - I'll release it after I clean it up a bit. Hopefully it will be more helpful than the current README. Where do we go from here? Private email to work out the details? -----Original Message----- From: Skaag Argonius [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: November 21, 2003 7:15 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: Passing SpamAssassin message Rewrites Hi Chris, My plugin was not heavily tested... it does work great for me and in fact i'm quite amazed with the results. But I think that lack of testing on additional systems would be the main reason for it not making it to the CVS version. Further, besides yourself, nobody else here commented on my version of the plugin (you'r the first), I simply assumed that either the previous versions are too broken to be used by anyone, or they work for everybody else besides myself :-) And even assuming the plugin works better than the others, I don't know if I can or should simply access CVS myself and make changes (is it that open?), or simply ask a maintainer. I personally would like to see this plugin improved some more, and your suggested improvement is a great start! I'm willing to help you with coding and testing of the improved version, and i'm sure if we both test it for a few days it will be save to make an official release of a really good version of the spamassassin plugin. I have hundreds of customers on my mail system. The slightest problem, and my support box gets bombarded with support emails or complaints. So far, I have 0 emails in there! (honest). Once we test this a bit on an alternative mail server I have, we'll move it to the main one, and see the 'effects' ;-) Keep in touch, Aric
