I assume this means you use qpsmtpd with qmail-ldap.  I might write
my own plugin to interact with LDAP, I just wanted to know if qpsmtpd
works at all with qmail-ldap.

Other than the STARTTLS support which I need, qpsmtpd seems to me a
better choice than qmail-smtpd at this point.  So if (as you say)
qpsmtpd works well with qmail-ldap, I'll wait for Matt Sergeant's
decision about STARTTLS and go from there.  I have no problem with
writing the STARTTLS support myself, it will just take me much longer
than someone already familiar with qpsmtpd.
