I still think that the patch should emulate current behavior as a default, i.e. anyone upgrading /now/ should get the current SA plugin behavior, no matter how much I prefer stripping the previous headers.
It seems to me that the default behavior should be to emulate SpamAssassin itself, which does strip the existing "X-Spam-*" headers.
Two points:
1) Could you point to the some actual documentation for SpamAssassin which discusses its behavior vis a vis existing X-Spam headers? I'm not talking about the remove_header conf file option nor the -d (--remove-markup) command line option, neither of which are set by default. It's been quite a while since I ran SA without using Qpsmtpd and I honestly don't remember what it used to do and I don't see anything upon casual check of the 3.0 docs...
2) I am only stating that the behavior of _Qpsmtp_ will change if the default behavior of the _SpamAssassin_ plugin is changed. I agree with Michael that the current behavior of Qpsmtpd/SA is arguably wrong, but it _is_ the current behavior and I question whether it should be casually changed without prominent notice. The last time this was discussed, there were some people who specifically objected to stripping the old headers by default.
