Video stream downloadsGidday Rebecca and all,

How embarrassing but thankyou. There are a few notes:

1. ICT Community is an EQ facility so it demands a username and password. I
have not noticed a similar file sharing option for QSITE but it would be a good
idea.

2. My tutorial was written specifically for the CFT (Computers For Teachers)
laptops distributed by EQ. However the only special setting is the EQ
autoproxy site.

3. As it stands the Firefox tutorial lets teachers download streaming video in
FLV format. Some of my people wanted to embed their video in Microsoft Media
Player. This requires AVI file format. There is a simple way to do that and I
will soon build it into the tutorial but it has not been done yet (we had a
lightning strike at school).

I am certain that users need these step by step tutorials. The level of
computer knowledge in the teacher corps is low and most teachers lead
excessively busy lives that deny them the chance to sit and search for
information. I am really happy to share the tutorials I write. Why not? I
even announced this tutorial on the two EQ computer mailing lists but that
often reaches only one user per school.

Regards,

  Subject: [qsiteict] Video stream downloads

  Hi,

I just want to say a big thank you to Bob Fifoot. I was browsing the ICT
community site when I happened across his pdf instructions about how to
download video streams using Firefox. I have had several staff ask me how to do
this and I had no clue. I am now running a PD at my school next Thursday to
enable interested staff to be install all the software I downloaded! What a
great resource!

  Thanks again Bob.

  Rebecca
