I think tabs could be very useful if controlled somewhat - I'm often toggling between 3 or 4 files, and while Ctrl+Tab works, some sort of circular buffer of tabs of the last 5 or so files might be useful. But yeah, as long as it doesn't get as stupid as XCode 4's tabs. Has any thought been put into putting the different widget areas of Qt Creator into QDocks? For the large areas (project tree, build outputs, code editing), being able to move things around would be a godsend, and it would provide a (admittedly not perfect) useful ability to use multiple monitors, which Qt Creator is sorely missing IMO.
