AVD and "direct". The entries have 2 icons. (And yes, the simulator is
so slow,
that there is no fun to use!)
Have you checked with "adb devices" in a console?
Have you enabled the debug mode on your android device?
For me, the detection works "automatically".

I figured it out. The project was a QML project. I had to make it a
Qt Quick application.

It would be nice to configure a USB connection, to install the apk
direct, like the ADT
(Android Developer Tools, comes with Android SDK) or IntelliJ.
