Like Eike said the include paths are scanned (and other stuff):

I faced a problem with that once.
We had a trailing slash on the wrong position in the Includepath, which lead to
the whole file system ("/") being in the includepath as well. So Creator
scanned the whole FS at startup =)
Intended:
INCLUDEPATH += /path/to/some/sources/
But ended up like this:
INCLUDEPATH += /path/to/some/sources /
I spent a fair amount of time on finding out this one =)
