Guess so. Here's another link on the same issue, this may turn out
more relevant:

which points to this package:

Hi!

My knowledge of Windows is unfortunately limited as well, but as I understand
it, this Windows SDK should have come with Visual Studio (unless you are using
Visual Studio Express Edition, which AFAIK doesn't include it). On the other
hand, if this was missing on your system, you shouldn't be able to compile
Qt's UI library at all because this is the package that contains essential
files like windows.h.

Either way, I seriously don't think you could mess up the resulting build by
installing this package. You could *possibly* mess up your build environment,
though, if you end up having different versions of headers on your system.

Yes, the problem is to get Qt configure recognize that I'm Phonon
compatible on this environment, which I don't by just putting on the
DirectX SDK package (a bit strange, isn't it)....

Probably this question should be asked on the qt-interest list, if there
isn't any Gurus around here ;-)

Hi,

phonon support is necessary because webkit does depend on it -> so no
phonon means no webkit :(. I tried to install a build environment with
MSVC2005 and phonon support, but i never got it to work. Hope you do
better!

Subject: [Qt-jambi-interest] Phonon support

Hello!

I'm now setting up a build environment on win32-msvc2005 using VirtualBox
as we agreed should be the best platform to build QtJambi 4.6 on. Should
we include Phonon support?

I have installed the Microsoft DirectX package on a clean Windows Service
pack2 machine (
http://www.microsoft.com/games/en-US/aboutGFW/pages/directx.aspx ) to get
multimedia support, but still I see that I do not get Phonon support when
running configure.exe when I'm going to compile Qt.

Googling a bit, I find this documentation from the trolls:

http://doc.trolltech.com/4.4/phonon-overview.html#installing-phonon

which points me to this page:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=e6e1c3df-a74f-42
07-8586-711ebe331cdc&DisplayLang=en

Should I just go along installing this package as well? I'm really not
the best expert around on Windows, so I'm just asking you to be sure I'm
not doing anything stupid here.

Any more packages I should get into my environment before doing the
actual build?

Helge Fredriksen
