Well i checked, my current ebuilds use the src dir for building... Why 
is it btw that the include hierarchy is only created if this is not 
the case? How does any build succeed without that step?

Not sure yet if the qt configure needs another option, or to modify 
the gentoo eclass to build into a separate directory?
