Thanks for pointing this out once more - even if I already knew this from 
previous threads.

But Qwt is a library - it doesn't want decide what is best for the 
application. The fact, that certain plots can't be done with QML easily 
( or at all ) doesn't mean, that other plots shouldn't be done in QML.

And even worse: a Qwt plot consists of items stacked in z order ( like in 
the QGraphicsView framework ). Some of them might be very heavy ( curves 
with many points ) - others might be simple custom items ( f.e a 
watermark ) that could be implemented perfectly with QML in application 
code. Both could be displayed on the same plot.

Qwt/QPainter is also not going away - ever. The development of Qwt/
QPainter will be continued not only maintained - maybe also ever. But 
this is not the answer when users are pushing me for QML support in Qwt.

When there is a new key technology in Qt I'd like to support - not to 
ignore - it. But when the design doesn't give 3rd party libraries a 
chance to do so you should be aware, that this might result in 2 
different Qt ecosystems.
