You're right, a heads-up is a better mechanism.

As close to 100% as possible. We do have a few source incompatible changes
that have come in, but I think we're through with the biggest part of them.

On the topic itself: I'm also a bit sceptical with limiting things to a
certain day in the week. I don't expect to have a lot of these changes
come in, so how about simply agreeing to give a heads up to the list
before doing them?
