Subject: [quackle] Quackle for
Windows (sort of)
Hi all,
I know there are a lot of Windows users out there
who want to see what's
going on with quackle. I have created a Knoppix
that has quackle on it.
(What's a knoppix?) A Knoppix is a bootable cd
that starts up a
complete operating system directly from the cd,
without touching the
underlying OS. So, if you have a relatively recent
computer with
windows on it, you could use this knoppix cd to
boot into unix and try
out Quackle without changing your windows
installation at all.
If anyone is interested, I can provide an .iso
file so people can burn
cd-roms of this disk image. I don't really have a
server to distribute
this 600MB file, but I could probably get it to
club at los gatos
or
san jose if someone else wants to distribute it somehow.
( I tried to add zyzzva (* ?) to the disk also,
and MAVEN, but I
couldn't get the help files in zyzzva to compile
(missing
QtAssistantClient) and MAVEN just wouldn't run
under wine (windows
emulation))
Let me know if you're interested.
