As always, thanks, guys.
1. One of the great features of Quackle is its ability to sim in the background. I just ran into a danger of this, though. I saw the post about holding AADEIMO after Opp's QUOTINg 8D and decided to do a sim. When I generated choices for the QUOTIN? rack, QUOTINg 8D 100 showed up somewhere in the middle! It took me a minute to figure out what happened: I had already been doing a sim (of QUOTRON to open, by a weird coincidence) and had forgotten I was doing it. The new sim hijacked the old one. It would be nice if any time you requested to generate choices while a sim is running, a warning appeared.
2. After I ran 64,000+ 2-ply iterations on the AADEIMO rack, I looked at the sim details and the standard deviations had disappeared (they all said "nan", I think). I then tried some 16,000 iterations and everything seemed fine. Has anyone noticed anything like this? In doing another sim, I noticed some standard deviations that were clearly way off, but I haven't been able to reproduce either problem.
3. I deleted most of the moves, cleared the simulation results and changed to a "Many" ply sim. The valuations shown in the sim were clearly off--AI was hovering around 10 and AIM was hovering around 0, and neither were changing much, even early in the sim. Also, the highest fake win % I can find is 0.53 for AI, which can't be right. [Now I think I see what's happening: some of the results from the earlier 16,000 iteration sim are still in the sim data even after clearing the sim results. The win % for the 2-ply sim is close to zero, since we never make up the 100-point difference right away, and only slowly does the new data from the many-ply sim start to effect the results. So you have to be very careful when doing a different kind of sim of the same position--in this case I re-committed to the move previous to the sim, reset the new rack and re-simmed. But if the move is one from the middle of a game, I think that action will wipe out the rest of the game. Anyway, that explains why the win percentages were off. I'm not sure what's going on with the valuation display: I'm pretty sure data from the previous sim is in there, but not in an obvious way as with the win %.]
4. I went to post the results to cgp, but I couldn't copy and paste the results shown in the choices window. Am I missing something? (I can copy and paste the sim details, but just the basics seemed more appropriate to put on cgp.)
5. Speaking of the choices window, on my wish list would be having the generic value of each rack leave shown next to the leave. (Especially if the values are revisited and refined.)
6. It would be awesome to have a dictionary filter on the lister. For instance, I could look up which 2-letter words are in COSD but not in TWL06 or SOWPODS. Ja?
All the best,
