Dave,
I own a Zaurus SL-5500, and no trickery was required to get an early
version of Quackle to compile and run on it. This was almost exactly
two years ago, before Jason was working with me, and before Quackle
had any graphical interface. The Quackle library should still work
fine on a Zaurus, but it doesn't have enough memory to comfortably
load our gaddags or superleaves. With some work, the size of these
files could be minimized, and sims on a PDA would run at a tolerable
speed.
The difficulty is that the Quackle GUI ("Quacker") and even our
console-based testing tools for libquackle require Qt. There isn't a
Qt for Linux PDAs, but there is Qtopia. I've only ever spent about 15
minutes playing around with Qtopia, and I have very little idea how
interoperable it and Qt are.
Fun as it is, my Zaurus has been collecting dust because I'm content
with the Scrabble tools available for my MacBook and PalmPilot. If
you're up for some dabbling, I encourage you to pursue it, and I would
be happy to test whatever you come up with.
