[quackle] THUDERER?

I was playing a game against Quackle (version 0.95) yesterday and it 
surprised me by playing THUDERER* to the last R. 

My version seems to accept THUDERER* as valid, but not THUDERERS*.

Is there an explanation for this aberrant word?
