I've made a couple of feeble attempts to compile Quackle 0.95 on Ubuntu 8/AMD 64, and I'll be the first to point out the challenges may be of my own making.
I promise I will try with 0.96 before bothering anyone with further questions. Note I'm not interested in building under a 32-bit environment because I'm trying to make a clean break with the past. If it came to that I would just run it in a 32-bit guest VM. In order that I can properly size this task, could the maintainers let me know which of the following statements they believe most likely applies to building a Quackle in the stated environment: A) It is know to work fine if you just follow the instructions as written and don't get fancy. B) Can be made to work, but certain known pre-conditions apply above and beyond those for building on 32-bit x86 Linux. C) You'll have to give it a go and let us know. D) There are known problems which will probably yield to the appropriate level of effort. E) Don't even bother, we know it's gnarly and we'll get back to you. Thanks guys! --gvc
