When I used to work for a large UK defence contractor, this is the
sort of reply we would give users in circumstances like this:

"Dear Mr Goldman,
  we have examined your issue carefully and after a thorough forensic
probe, have determined that your computer
was affected by the recent cosmic shower.  A single memory transistor
cell was affected which changed state from 0 to 1,
and as a result the second bit in the letter 'F' was set, transforming
the contents of that memory location into an 'H'.

We recommend that in future your run critical programs from within the
faraday cage situated in the sub-basement"
