Hi Dan.  I have a supra-pubic catheter and float (can't swim except for moving my arms around in the water on my back) in my pool.  I've never had any problems with it at all.

Also, to answer River's question, I just lay my 32 oz. leg bag across my stomach in my bikini bottom while I am in the pool.  Works fine.  Actually I wear my leg bag across my stomach in my pants/shorts instead of connected to the extra tube down my leg.  That way it's easy to empty and you can't even tell with my quad belly.  Works good for me.

I was cathed for 6 1/2 years until I had the supra-pubic surgery 4 1/2 years ago.  It was the best decision I could have made.  Gave me so much more freedom.  Plus I never get UTI's like I used to get all the time when I was cathed.

Subject: [QUAD-L] swimming issue for supra-pubic

Does anyone know if people with supra-pubic cathes in lower stomach can swim? I used to go on float trips and swim till I got a supra-pubic cath--which is an open hole in lower stomach that catheter goes in. I take showers but my doc not sure about pools or rivers because of bacteria, I may just have to forget swims and floats lol.

Thanks, Dan
