~TRAILS OF LIVING~
AN END TO ANGER
Imagine a fine, spring day. A man is driving cheerfully along a
picturesque road, which winds through the lazy countryside. Suddenly, from around the next curve, a car barrels toward him in his lane. He brakes hard, and as it swerves past, the woman driver screams at him,
"Pig! Pig!" Furious, he shouts back at her, "Sow! Sow!" Pleased with himself, he drives around the curve and runs smack into a pig.
Anyone can get angry. But as Daniel Goleman in his audiotape
EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE (St. Martin's Press, Inc., 1995) points out, to be angry with the right person, to the right degree, at the right time, for the right purpose and in the right way is not so easy.
Which is to say, most of the time we may get angry either with the wrong person, or to the wrong degree, or at the wrong time, or for the wrong purpose, or in the wrong way. But then, that's the way it is with anger. It just happens!
We can't always "do anger right," so ancient biblical wisdom offersan excellent solution for managing it. It teaches, "Don't let the sun set on your anger."
Of course, problems cannot always be solved by bedtime, and
deep-seated anger may take time to heal. But even anger needs an ending time.
Maybe it is time to put an end to anger you have carried far too long Today?_from__Steve Goodier's popular book
ONE MINUTE CAN CHANGE A LIFE
                                                                                                        ~TRAILS of LIFE~
Dr. Schweitzer Ministry
Living in both temperate and tropical zones, the pelican is a large water bird with an enormous, elastic pouch on the underside of its bill and front of its upper neck. Usually about five feet long, it is the world's largest
web-footed bird, with a wingspread of eight to ten feet. Almost voiceless, this swift swimmer lives in large colonies that cooperate with one another in gathering fish for food.
Many years ago one of these strong, graceful fliers swooped down on an  African woman carrying a fish. Frightened, she struck it with a paddle, breaking one leg and crippling its wing. Nearby was Dr. Albert Schweitzer's jungle hospital. Hearing of theaccident, the kind doctor took the pelican under his care. In a short time the bird was healed and set free. But this bird, who had always lived in water as part of a large colony of pelicans, refused to leave the doctor.
Never was there a better night watchman. His bill frightened any prowler as he faithfully watched and protected his beloved doctor. Love for the one who aided him changed the pelican's entire nature. So love for your Lord can change you from one accustomed to do evil to one who loves to do good.
One of the wildest of animals is the African wild boar. Yet even this fierce, ugly creature can respond to the strange experience of being loved.
Dr. Schweitzer adopted a savage hog whom he called Josephine. Treating the animal with much love, Schweitzer gradually saw the fierce, wild nature softening. Before long that wild pig followed the doctor on his visits through the little African village. When the mission bell sounded, the boar, ran to the chapel with the doctor.

                                           ~TRAILS of SCRIPTURE~
If Two Agree
"I also tell you this - if two of you agree down here on earth concerning anything you ask for, My Father in heaven will do it for you" (Matthew 18:19).                                                                        Some of the richest experiences of my life have occurred in the practice of meeting with one or two individuals to pray specifically for definite things. The Scripture promises that one person can defeat 1000 but two can defeat 10,000 (Deuteronomy 32:30).                                                                                                                                                                                                                    I believe that same principle holds in prayer. When individuals pray together, agreeing concerning a certain matter - assuming, of course, that they are praying according to the Word and will of God - the mighty sources of deity are released in their behalf.                                                                                                                                                                                                                     Some interpret this verse to refer to church discipline, rejecting the claim that I am making in principle that there is great power, supernatural power, released when God's children unite together in prayer. We have not because we ask not (James 4:2). Whatsoever we shall ask in prayer, believing, we shall receive (Matthew 21:22). If we ask anything according to God's will, He hears and answers us (1 John 5:14). If we ask anything in Christ's name, He will do it (John 14:14).                                                                                                                                                                                                      When two or more individuals unite and together claim these promises concerning a certain matter whatever it may be, they should expect answers. That is in accordance with God's promise and God does not lie.

           ~TRAILS of PRAYER~
"Dear God, please help me to have a
loving heart, keeping in mind that 'out of the abundance of
the heart the mouth speaks.' Please use me and the words
I speak to encourage a fellow struggler along the way ...
and especially to encourage, motivate, and inspire my
loved ones at home. Thank you for hearing and answering
my prayer. Gratefully, in Jesus' name, amen."
