Meredith, Last year my left elbow in a matter of 8 hours became red and
tripled in size. When the doc saw it I was immediately hospitalized and my elbow
split open like a watermelon, a gash about ten inches long on the back of my
arm. That was followed by two weeks of iv's. Apparently a bacteria of Nazi
magnitude had entered my arm through a cracked callous on my elbow. Twas an
experience I'll not soon forget.
I've also had bursitis a few times in my elbows, a result of pushing
them on the chair arms. Antibiotics and hot compresses helped. Also, perhaps you
can receive iv as an outpatient if home health isn't an option. Larry
